Back to (Primary) School...

The workshop at Fuhua Primary School is the first that I have conducted for children so young. I'd felt a little apprehensive about the response of the children. About whether they'd appreciate persons with disability or they would run away screaming. I'm exaggerating of course. The kids at Fuhua Primary School were such angels. Their enthusiasm is unlike anything that I've ever seen. I think our clients really enjoyed the company of the children. See Bryan beaming away in the photo on the left!

Another difference with this workshop was also the fact that there were 10- 12 teachers participating. They really wanted to try the new designs. We even had one teacher who completed an entire lampshade during the 2 hour session.

I thoroughly enjoyed leading their group and hope that we get invited back.

Earth Day @ The Singapore Zoo

What were you doing on Earth Day?

Our good friends at the Singapore Zoo invited us to conduct the Tree Of Life workshop over the weekend as part of their Earth Day activities. This was a welcome break from the school outreaches that we have been conducting since January this year.

We had the privilege of meeting the hundreds of guests who were at the zoo during those two days. Many families stopped by to let their children have a hands-on session doing recycled art. It seemed like the passers-by could not help but whip out their cameras to capture the beauty and artistry of the bottle lamps.

We want to thank you if you had stopped by our booth to talk to us or let persons with intellectual disability demonstrate how to make beautiful recycled art. You have made a difference by empowering persons with intellectual disability. If you didn't have the time to stop by, don't worry, we'll be updating this blog with more Tree Of Life workshop dates.

Welcome to The Tree Of Life Project 2009

A big hello from all of us here at Christian Outreach To The Handicapped. Thank you for your interest in our Tree of Life Project. We've been really busy developing our programme for the school workshops and every session is an opportunity for improvement.

I just want to thank all the schools and teachers who have already responded to our workshop. I believe that everyone involved has benefitted by seeing our clients in action, demonstrating recycled art and making short speeches.

We welcome your feedback & suggestions. Feel free to talk to us if you have special requests for a larger group size or different target group.

If you haven't already done so, contact me for a copy of our Tree of Life project handbook. Email me at daryl[at]coh[dot]org[dot]sg. Replace [at] with @ and [dot] with .
